Olympic Track Trials

We're headed to the Olympic Track Trials!!!!

I was a little slow on the uptake for this event.  Mostly because I thought the event was 1) not open to the public and 2) if it was, it surely wasn't in my price range.  That'll teach me to not even investigate!  Turns out they were selling one-day tickets and this girl was on it.

Now I don't have endless hours of paid time off so I can't just go flitting down to Eugene whenever I want.  And, it turns out we will have company on the weekend of the 29th so that left me with the weekend of the 22nd.  I quickly scanned the events for Friday - Sunday and effortlessly picked Saturday.  If you know me even a little bit you know I love the 400.  It was my race growing up and I have a special place in my heart for the all-out suffer fest that is the middle distances.  Look at all that goodness on the evening of the 23rd!  Le sigh, I might be in heaven.

The inside secret - I have no clue who is racing!  I can't even remember the last time I really paid any attention to USA Track and Field.  Oh wait!  Yes I can.  But the names Michael Johnson and Maurice Green haven't been in the picture for over 10 years and then before that Carl Lewis and Flo Jo... I mean those were my peeps!  And let's not mention the last time I went to a professional track and field event - can we say Goodwill Games circa 1990 at Husky Stadium?.  I was a child of the track and field scene and sadly have strayed from my roots quite a bit.  But I'm back!!  White lanes, red rubber, starter gun smoke, uncomfortable bleachers - welcome me with open arms.

Team Oiselle

I received a bit of exciting news last night.  Okay that's kind of an understatement.  Let me rephrase - I received HUGELY EXCITING NEWS last night.  I'm officially a member of the Oiselle Abassador Team!  What does that mean exactly?  I get to:

- Be a part of an amazing group of women runners - check them out here
- Sport the stylish apparel while I train, race and recover.
- And simply represent the brand well

Why Oiselle?  I first heard about the brand through Twitter and other blogs but what solidified my love for the people as well as the brand was... wait for it... wait for it... OPERATION GO BANANAS.  I know, it really all comes back to that excellent cheering-road trip-extravaganza.  This was the weekend that I got to meet (in real life) Sally, the Founder and CEO of Oiselle, and Sarah, Marketing Director of Oiselle.  I was inspired by their dedication and love of the sport and was delighted to find them both completely down to earth and approachable (not that I really had any fear that they weren't).  The kicker - the singlets they wore on race day were pretty awesome.

So there you have it.  A HUGE thank you to Kristin (team manager), Sally and Sarah, and the rest of the team at Oiselle!  I won't let you down.
